Welcome and Introduction

The James Young High School opened in 1982 and provides a comprehensive education for young people in the south area of Livingston.  The school has four associated primary schools: Bankton, Bellsquarry, Dedridge and Williamston.  The school has a roll of around 1100 and a number of our students come from outwith the area by means of placement requests.

I have been the Head Teacher of The James Young High School since May 1997.  The thing that struck me immediately (apart from the warmth of the welcome) was the excellent relationships evident between staff and pupils.  These relationships continue to flourish and have been commended in recent years by Her Majesty’s Inspectors of Education.  I believe there can be no better basis for a happy and successful school.

The website aims to give you as much information as possible about the work of the school.  If you would like additional information, however, or would like to visit the school please do not hesitate to contact us.
